ABOUT THE PROJECT
I established Breaking Barriers - One Line of Code at a Time in 2017.
The idea of launching this initiative came to me when, for my IB MYP "Creativity-Action-Service" project, I was assisting ILP (India Literacy Project) in the mobile library initiative at one of the government schools of Hyderabad. During my visits, I noticed that the computer lab at the school remained inaccessible to the children. From the school Principal, I learned that the lab was established by a corporate, but the school did not have qualified staff to teach the children. That day, I decided to take the lead to introduce the children to basic computer science skills. Subsequently, I approached the founder of Hyderabad's ILP Chapter and sought his approval for using the 'Code.org' resources to teach basic coding skills.
With the assistance of the India Literacy Project, this project has been focusing on bringing code literacy to the disadvantaged children through teaching sessions and teacher training workshops.
