Today I went over all my preparation material. The day had almost come. Tomorrow, would be the day when all my efforts of the past few months would culminate into the most awaited phase of my project: The action. I was going to be teaching the children from the Nallagandla primary school and hence I decided to teach the relatively easier games from the Hour of Code® repertoire: A Basketball Game and A Sports Games Collection. Also, these children understood very little Hindi or English, so I revised the Telugu translations many times. I had decided that even if they did not understand English completely, I would anyways always give my instruction first in English and then follow it up with the Telugu, that way since they knew the basic English words, they would still have an idea of what I am talking about; and the Telugu translation would shed more clarity on it. I also took a quick look at the solutions document so as to ensure that I knew the code well.
I packed my bags and got everything ready. While I was doing that I realized that I had a long list of things to carry, hence, I decided to make a checklist of items to carry so that it will get easier for the next sessions.
Checklist:
Solutions documents
Blocks terminology documents
Survey and assessments sheets
Notepad
Laptop and charger and pen drive
Mobile phone and charger (for taking pictures and videos)
Extension cord
HDMI cable (for connecting to the projector)
Whiteboard, stand, markers, eraser
Chocolates for the children
The Hour of Code® poster
