Creating the Lesson Plans and Activity Sheet

Today I chalked out my session plan. I checked out the lesson plan of Star Wars: Building a Galaxy with Code as recommended by code.org®. I knew that I could not use this as is as I needed to take into account my challenges and background of the children I was catering too. Based on various parameters, I came up with my Session Plan.

Next, I worked on the pre and post session survey questions. I knew this had to be short and just enough to give me a gauge of the background of the children, their desire to learn and the feedback on whether they liked the session and if they would like to learn more. I also looked at how code.org® gathers their statistics. They gather their statistics on lines of code and number of games completed. And although, they do acknowledge that number of lines of code is not really a measure of the quality of code, given the nature of the activity, the completion of the activity and measuring the lines of code is used as a simple measure of progress. Based on

this and my thought process, I came up with the pre and post survey questions.

The next was the fun part: the quiz. I made this a multiple-choice puzzle with picture drawings where children could check the correct choice from the offered choices. I based these questions around what was learnt in the game and the blocks that were used in the games.
