Compiling the Solutions Document

On this day, I began creating the solution document by taking screenshots of each level of each game after filling in the proper code.

Today, I also began organizing all my key documents and support material. While collating them, it suddenly struck me that these resources would be quite useful for anyone who would want to teach or conduct the Hour of Code® activities. Though the original aim for these documents was to help me in teaching, they would be useful to others too. I decided that it would be best to create teaching guides for each of these games which I could pass on to the ILP staff as part of the training guide as a handy resource which they too could refer to. Though, the ILP staff was well conversant in Telugu, they could still refer to the Hindi translations for Hindi speaking schools and also pass this on to other volunteers who, like me are not conversant with Telugu. I made a note of discussing this with Mr. Shravan to see if he shares my views on these resources being useful as training material.

Nonetheless, I brainstormed on what the contents of these teaching guides would be, and I came up with the following guidelines. Each game would have a teaching guide that would contain the following:

  • Objective of the game

  • Programming Concepts

  • Character Introduction

  • Blockly Script terminology translations both in Hindi and Telugu

  • Screen wise translation of instructions both in Hindi and Telugu

  • Solutions for each screen to help in preparation for the session

Collating all of these teaching guides into the training guide, which would also contain slight information about the Hour of Code® and code.org®, would be very beneficial in my volunteer training session.
